We take our double international award winning Colonsay Gin and infuse it with the finest brambles we can find, hand foraging as many as we can from the island hedgerows. The result is a Bramble Gin Liqueur at 20% ABV that is rich in flavour with a beautiful, distinctive taste, subtle aroma and vibrant colour.
Enjoy it neat over ice or with Champagne or Prosecco. Alternatively, try it with Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic.
The ancient Scots observed a ‘sacred tree’ calendar of which the bramble vine was the ‘tree’ that represented the month of Muin, or September as it is known today, that month being when the fruits were gathered. The fruit’s medicinal properties go back more than 200 years and history reveals the Greeks and Romans used not only the fruits, but also the leaves, bark and roots for healing numerous health conditions ranging from mild infections to venomous bites. During the 18th century, the Greek cure using bramble for treating gout was so influential in Europe that the bramble was famously known as the ‘gout berry’.
